The Best Beef Chili Recipe in an Instant Pot

This easy to make classic beef chili in an Instant Pot is full of flavor and so tender! It is filled with beef, beans, tomatoes and a ton of delicious spices! It makes for the perfect bowl of chili to enjoy on a cold evening, or at barbecues.

We love this recipe so much! Firstly, because it tastes so good! It is cooked in the pressure cooker which adds an extra layer of tenderness to the meat and beans. The spices fragment perfectly into the beans and meat while they simmer in the pot. Everyone will think you spent all day making it!! Jokes on them. This chili is ready to serve under 40 minutes!

Can this recipe be made in a normal Instant pot?

The answer is YES!! This recipe does not have to be made in an instant pot. Follow the same steps. Place a large pot over medium high heat. Sauté onions, and garlic. Then toss in the meat. Allow the meat to brown. Then add spices, followed by the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Mix in cacao powder and sugar. Lastly toss in all the beans. Allow the pot to come to a simmer for about 20-30 minutes. Serve warm with your favorite toppings!

Instructions

Set Pressure Cooker to Sauté mode and set to 10 minutes. Add olive oil to the pot. Sauté onions and garlic for about 2 minutes. Then add in ground meat. Allow the meat to cook until browned. Break up the meat with a spatula as you stir.

Mix in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix until well combined with meat.

Add tomatoe sauce and canned diced tomatoes to the pot. Give it a good stir. Then add in cacao powder and sugar, stirring constantly until well combined.

Lastly add all the beans into the pot. Give beans one last stir. Then place the lid on the Pressure Cooker. Set the Pressure Cooker to Chili/Bean setting or Manual Setting. Make sure the dail is set to Sealing. Set cook time for 20 minutes and medium pressure.

Once cooking is complete, release the pressure either manually but changing dail at the top to Release or allow it to release naturally. Be cautious while releasing pressure. We suggest using a towel to protect you from the steam. It can be REALLY hot!

Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

The Perfect Bowl!

We love to add sour cream, cheese, chives….sometimes even jalapeños to spice up our easy to make chili! There are so many fun and delicious toppings. Another way we love to use this chili is on fries!! It makes the perfect chili cheese fries. A fan of hot dogs?? This chili is perfect for a chili hot dog! We are drooling writing this!
