Sometimes it’s nice to go back to the basics….who are we kidding! If we are going to make a sandwich here, we are going to make it worth our whiles!
Sandwiches happen to be one of my favorite things to eat for lunch. What better way to use up some of our apples from apple picking than to make a savory and sweet panini.
Do I need a Panini Press

You don’t need to go out and get a panini press if you don’t have one at home. This panini sandwich can be made in a large skillet!! To get the cheese in the sandwich to melt throughly, you can cover the sandwich with a lid for 30 seconds at a time, flipping it to the other side each time.
How to make an Apple Cheddar and Bacon Panini?

Heat a Panini press or a large skillet over medium high heat. Spread the outside of each slice of bread with butter. In the inside part of the bread, spread cherry or blackberry jam. On top of the jam, evenly layer the cheeses, apples, and bacon. Then add the top piece of the bread, buttered side facing up.

Place the sandwiches, one at a time into the Panini press or large skillet and cook until the cheese is melted.
Serve each sandwich with a side of jam and fresh thyme if desired. Now it’s time to eat!
Lunch Time!

Grab a glass of wine. Sit back and relax. We hope you enjoy every bite of this panini as much as we do!
