Description

The perfect homemade oat milk! It is super easy to make, creamy and sweet. Pairs beautifully with iced coffee/tea. Taste delicious in smoothies and so much more.

Ingredients

Adding a touch of sweet to recipe use one of the following

Instructions

  1. Add oats, salt, water, maple syrup or dates and vanilla extract or/ and additional flavors to a high-speed blender. Blend for a 20-30 or until mixture is well combined. (Note it does not have to be completely blended, over blending can lead to slimy texture)

  2. Next, sample for taste/sweetness. If you are a sweet person like me add desired amount of sweetness. (Adding more flavor, don’t blend longer then 10 seconds.)

  3. Pour mixture over a large mixing bowl. Covered with one of the following: a clean thin kitchen towel, fine mesh strainer, or clean thin t-shirt. Any of these will work! Using a t-shirt, thin kitchen towel or cheese cloth? Drape over large bowl, secure with a rubber band.

  4. Strain oat milk 2-3 times. Until desired texture is achieved.

  5. Store oat milk in sealed container. Keep refrigerated, good for 5-7 days.

  6. Shake well before using. It’s absolutely delightful in iced coffee, dipping your favorite cookies, homemade smoothies and so much more!!

Note

2 cups of water for every 1/2 cup of oats.

If you prefer oat milk unsweetened and vanilla-free, opt out of maple syrup/dates and vanilla extract.

Tips to not get a slimy texture:

Don't over blend, this will cause a slimy texture.

Don't soak oats overnight. This can sometimes cause oats to get a sticky, slimy texture.

Do soak steal cut oats in water 10-15 minutes before blending.

Don't heat oat milk. This will cause it to get thicker.

If you are looking for an oat milk recipe that will pair well with your hot coffee? Or want to use it to make foam?
