Oreos are one of our favorite store-bought cookies! We are big fans when they are dipped in rich chocolate. You can dress them up for any holiday season. Incorporate different colors and sprinkles. We used gluten free Double Stuffed Oreos! You can also use your favorite Oreos for this recipe.

Ingredients

Oreos: Feel free to use your favorite flavor of Oreos. We used Double Stuffed Gluten Free Oreos.

Candy melts: You can use as many colors of candy melts as you like. For this recipe I chose white chocolate and dark chocolate. Feel free to choose different types of colors for fun!

Candy: Having a variety of candy eyes makes these Oreos so much fun to work with.

Pretzels: We used stick pretzels for this recipe to make the creepy spiders legs.

How to Make Halloween Chocolate Covered Oreos?

halloween chocolate covered Oreos

Melt 10 ounces of white chocolate candy melts and dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in short 20-30 second bursts of hear in the microwave. Be sure to stir the candy melts after each burst of heat. Even if they don’t look like they have melted at all. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper beforehand so you have a place to set the Oreos.

Working with one color at a time, place an Oreo in the melted chocolate and turn it using a spoon to coat both sides. Lift the chocolate covered Oreo out of the melted chocolate using a spoon or fork and tap it against the side of the bowl a few times to let excess chocolate drip off and to smooth out the top for a cleaner look.

Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and decorate with candy eyes and pretzel sticks. This happens quickly so I only dip about 4 Oreos before pausing to decorate.

Creepy Crawlers

To make the creepy crawly spiders, start off by breaking pretzel sticks in half. Insert 3 to 4 halves of pretzels to each side of the Oreo by placing them in the cream layer. Then gently dip into the melted chocolate and spoon chocolate over the top. Take it out and let the excess chocolate drip off and then place on parchment paper. Lastly, place candy eyeballs onto them!
