Apple Walnut Scones

Scones are crunchy on the outside, soft and full of flavor on the inside! These scones are perfect for afternoon tea or a breakfast treat. They are not too sweet and can be enjoyed with or without glaze on top!

  • 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup organic cane sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup butter cut into small pieces
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apple chopped into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Glaze Topping

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk


  • Preheat oven to 425F degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cinnoman, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Add butter into flour mixture and using a pastry blender or a fork. Mix until crumbly.
  • Add chopped apples and walnuts, stir.
  • Pour in milk and stir until incorporated.
  • Remove the batter from the bowl and place on a powdered sugar covered surface. Knead about 6-8 times.
  • Form a rectangle, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top. Then cut into 8 diagonal pieces (they should look like triangles at the end) and place in a baking sheet. Or place into a scone pan. 
  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until browned on the top.
  • Take scones out of the oven and let rest. Meanwhile mix powdered sugar and milk together to make a glaze.
  • Drizzle over each scone.
